Busyness is the curse of our American culture. All I see are hurried people doing, doing, doing. Some people have to have their lives filled with stuff to even feel like they are doing something good.
And even today most Christians use this busyness as an excuse of the time they DO NOT spend with our LORD! God desires us to be the people of God before doing the thing of God! What I mean by this is it is most important to spend time with our Lord and meet with Him daily, then to be caught up in thinking that the Christian life is about being busy with the Lord's work. How do we know what to do for the Lord, if we are not spending time with Him.
Jesus spent time with the Father often. Luke 5:16 says Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray. We need to make daily time and hang out with God. We need to dive into the Bible and talk with the Lord through prayer. And do not look at it as something needed to get done, but as an awesome opportunity to meet with the One True God! We need to be people that spend time with Jesus and not get caught up in the busyness of life. Maybe we need to cut some things out of our busy schedules so we can meet with the Lord!
What do you think?

After thinking about the blog topic, I was really surprised to see how much STUFF I have going on in life. School, homework, family, friends, church, repeat. Not that this is all bad, in fact, it's great to be involved in these things. But recently, this stuff has been taking up my time that I could be devoting to God. So today is my HUGE gap in between classes. I have nothing to do so I open up to Philippians to continue reading through it. This time I took a tip from Shane and started to journal my prayers and reflections on what I was reading. And I've got to say that this time in the Word has been so refreshing! Keeping a journal helps to stay focused on what I'm reading and praying about. I HIGHLY recommend journaling if you don't already.
Man. That was really eye opening to me. I guess I didn't really how much I watched tv and was on the computer when I could really be spending time learning about the Lord. I guess it's just hard because I don't know where to start. I don't know where in the bible is a good place to start. But thank you for talking about it. Spending time with our God is the best thing there is. I mean come on! You can talk to him all day and he's ALWAYS listening. He never has to "go"
Shane,
Your right I have not been with
the Lord enough only when I'm at church or youth group or when I pray every meal
and night, sometimes I don't even pray.
I think I need to work on that alot so im gonna start doing what you say, and chew on the word every day starting next week so if you could pray for Me that I would stay in his word that would be great thanks bye.

p.s.I'm starting a journal and I think it's gonna help alot I'll give you feedback on the journal thing well thanks for the advice talk to you later.
Hey Shane! Sorry for using the other blog to much. I thought that one was for talking with eachother and this one was for talking about what you write like your lesson on being to busy for God. Anyways, i like what you said about not having enough time for God, because i think thats a problem for me somtimes. I have a busy life with 6 younger brothers and sisters and having to help my mom with them, especially because of the wedding coming up. But thats no excuse, i need to make more time for the Lord. So can you pray for me for my relationship with God to grow? That would be great. Youre such a great pastor shane. We are all so blessed to have you as our pastor. We love you dude. Thanks for listening to me. See ya later!-Austen:D
Austen I totally agree with what your saying. Sometimes I think we feel like we don't have enough time for God but in reality we do. It's sooo great that you help your family out so much and I don't think that God is saying....don't do anything besides talk to me. I think that he wants us to be helpful but always make it all for his glory. Its okay to be doing other things but I think it's important to remember who we really need to spending time with.
